Symptoms and service
What’s changed with your cooktop?
A built-in cooking surface may sit above drawers, an oven or other finished cabinetry. That installation affects access, while the model determines the controls and heating system. When calling, describe what is installed and what you notice during normal operation.
A gas burner is hard to light
Record which burner is affected and whether the issue started after cleaning. Stop operating a position that does not ignite as expected. Leave gas fittings and internal components alone; there is no need to demonstrate the fault through repeated lighting attempts.
A zone will not heat or cuts out
For induction, identify the pan and any displayed message. For an electric surface, describe the position and control response. A problem limited to one zone offers different clues from a complete loss of operation.
Controls or glass show a new problem
A control that sticks, a touch area that stops responding or visible glass damage should be described clearly. Do not force a knob or continue using a cracked surface. Mention any spill or impact that preceded the change without assuming it explains every symptom.
What we check.
Gas models need burner and ignition checks; electric and induction models need heating, control or pan-recognition checks. We test power where needed, particularly when several zones fail together. The technician explains what caused the fault and what the repair involves.
Getting ready for service.
Clear and cool the surface. Keep the pan you use with the affected induction zone nearby and tell us what is beneath the unit. Do not lift the cooktop from its cutout. If you notice a gas odor, leave and contact the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Identify the affected burner or cooking zone.
- Describe a gas burner, electric element or induction zone.
- Tell us whether the problem is limited to one position or affects the whole surface.
- Mention any recent spill, cleaning or installation work without dismantling the controls.
