Symptoms and service

What’s changed with your ice maker?

Please identify which type you have when scheduling. The way a standalone ice machine makes and manages ice differs from a freezer-mounted assembly. Each type has its own cleaning instructions and water connections. Check the manual for your model before trying maintenance steps.

Production has stopped or slowed

Tell us when ice was last produced and whether anything else changed, such as the freezer temperature or recent plumbing work. Check the normal user controls in the manual to confirm that ice making has not been switched off. Avoid moving internal levers or sensors by force.

Cubes look different from usual

Small, incomplete or irregular cubes are useful observations. Note whether every batch is affected and whether there is also a water-flow problem. The appearance of the ice can guide a water and operating-condition check, but it does not by itself establish that a valve needs replacement.

Water appears beneath the appliance

Describe where you first see it and whether it follows a fill or an ice-making cycle. Water connections, the machine’s internal operation and any applicable drainage must be considered. Stop using a leaking appliance and keep water away from electrical equipment.

What we check.

We check the water supply and ice-making cycle, along with freezer temperature or standalone drainage where applicable. The aim is to find where production breaks down. An ice maker that has stopped does not always need a new ice-making assembly.

Getting ready for service.

Share the model, installation type and any cleaning or filter work already carried out. An accessible water shutoff location is useful information; there is no need to disconnect lines yourself. Do not bypass a sensor or repeatedly force a harvest cycle in an effort to demonstrate the problem.

Ice maker or ice dispenser?

  • Tell us whether it is a separate ice machine or an ice maker inside another appliance.
  • Distinguish an empty ice bin from ice that is made but will not come through the dispenser.
  • Mention a recent filter change, water shutoff or work on the supply connection.
