What’s changed with your cooktop?
Cooktops, rangetops and induction surfaces have different access and testing needs. Model-specific features also change what a customer may hear or see in ordinary operation. Include the exact message or control response rather than relying only on the name of a feature.
A gas burner keeps clicking or does not light
Note the affected position and whether cleaning or a spill came first. Stop using a burner with abnormal ignition. Do not adjust gas components, use a tool to enlarge openings or continue lighting attempts to reproduce the fault.
An induction area does not recognize cookware
Consult the model’s cookware guidance and identify the pan involved. If a known compatible pan behaves differently on another zone during normal use, report it. These details help the technician check pan recognition, controls and power.
A setting changes or a control stops responding
Describe whether the issue occurs on a cool surface, after cooking or when moisture is present. Lock settings and operating conditions need to be distinguished from a component fault. Record the sequence and leave internal inspection to service.
What we check.
Gas cooktop checks focus on the burner and ignition system involved. Induction checks include pan recognition, zone response and controls. If several zones fail together, the technician also checks for a shared power or control problem.
Getting ready for service.
Clear the worktop, allow the appliance to cool and keep the pan you were using nearby. Mention an oven or drawer directly beneath the unit. Do not use a cracked cooking surface. A gas odor requires leaving the area and contacting the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location.
Identify the affected burner or cooking zone.
- Describe a gas burner, electric element or induction zone.
- Tell us whether the problem is limited to one position or affects the whole surface.
- Mention any recent spill, cleaning or installation work without dismantling the controls.
