What’s changed with your cooktop?
Gas, electric and induction surfaces respond differently to cookware, spills, controls and power conditions. A cooktop set into a counter also has different access from a rangetop. These distinctions help us plan a visit without asking you to dismantle anything.
One gas burner is difficult to light
Explain whether it sparks, lights only briefly or has a changed flame during normal use. Mention recent cleaning. Do not alter the gas supply, enlarge burner openings or continue using a position that does not ignite normally.
An electric or induction zone will not heat
Note whether the controls respond and whether the issue affects the whole unit. For induction, tell us about the pan and any displayed message. The cookware requirements in the manual are an appropriate first reference; internal electrical checks belong with the technician.
A knob or touch control is inconsistent
Describe what action produces the problem and whether it follows warming, cooling or a spill. A mechanical control problem may look similar to an electronic one from the outside. Record the sequence instead of forcing a control that resists movement.
What we check.
The technician checks burner ignition on gas models, and heating or pan recognition on electric and induction models. Controls and power are tested where needed. These checks help separate a problem at one zone from a fault affecting the whole cooktop.
Getting ready for service.
Clear the counter and let the surface cool. Keep the pan you use with the affected induction zone nearby. Do not operate cracked glass or a surface showing an electrical concern. For a gas odor, leave the area and contact the gas utility or emergency services from a safe location.

- Describe a gas burner, electric element or induction zone.
- Tell us whether the problem is limited to one position or affects the whole surface.
- Mention any recent spill, cleaning or installation work without dismantling the controls.
